University of Oxford selects LabArchives Enterprise Research Notebook

LabArchives is pleased to announce a new enterprise partnership with the University of Oxford, one of the most respected research institutions in the world. As part of Oxford’s Electronic Lab Notebook project, the site license agreed with LabArchives will make available its Research Notebook / Research Data Management platform to researchers, staff and students across the University.

OXFORD, ENGLAND (PRWEB) JUNE 18, 2018 — Following an extensive review and highly competitive evaluation of Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs) on the market, LabArchives™ is pleased to announce that the University of Oxford has chosen the Enterprise version of LabArchives Professional Edition as its ELN solution to be the primary research notebook platform for the University.

Taking place through 2017, the evaluation process included a full market evaluation of platform functionality across a number of providers prior to contract award. Following contract award Oxford and LabArchives worked together to ensure fulfillment of the new GDPR requirements for Europe, defined product development items, and an assisted roll-out program, as well as establishing instances of the platform in a new UK based data center. Representatives from the University of Oxford will also participate in LabArchives advisory groups to champion, and participate in, the development of future functionality for the platform.

For Oxford the ELN project is a key deliverable in the University’s Digital Strategy which aims to deliver improved capabilities and functionality to support the world class research and teaching at the University. The adoption of ELNs in particular will help to facilitate research projects through the easier collection, referencing and sharing of research data with group members and external collaborators, as well as supporting the University in the wider contexts of researchers to align with University’s policies and comply with the increasing requirement of UK research funders regarding research data management and open science.

The official roll-out of the LabArchives platform at Oxford will take place over the coming months, aiming to make the solution available to existing researchers and groups at the University over summer 2018 and targeting incoming postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers starting at the university in September for the start of the 2018/19 academic year, with both phases of the roll out supported by LabArchives training and technical support teams.
