LabArchives offers four ways to copy pre-existing content. These are Copy from Existing Page, Copy from Another Notebook, and Copy To Another Notebook and Copy Entry

Copy from Existing Page, Copy from Another Notebook, and Copy To Another Notebook can be accessed by clicking “+New” or by right clicking on any page or folder.

Copy Existing Page

The Copy Existing Page feature allows you to create new content by copying one or more entries from a page within the notebook you’re currently working on.  On the “Select a page to copy from” window select the page from which you wish you copy. Once you do this, another window will appear containing a check list of every entry on the page you’ve selected. Simply check the entries which you want to copy, and click “Create Page“.

Copy from another notebook

The Copy from another notebook feature allows you to copy content from other notebooks into the notebook you are currently working on. While viewing the notebook you want to copy into, click “+ New” and select “Copy from another notebook.”

The “Copy Folder or Page from Another Notebook” window will appear. Select the source notebook on the dropdown list and select the content you wish to copy. You can select the whole notebook, a specific folder, or page. At this time, selecting a specific entry is not an option. Notice the Copy from section will change to reflect your selection.

NOTE: Your institution or the Notebook Owner may prevent you from copying data into another notebook. For more information about copy restrictions please see below.

The copying process may take several minutes to complete. When the copying process has completed, you will be returned to the destination notebook.

Copy To Another Notebook

The Copy To Another Notebook feature allows you to seamlessly copy a page or folder to another Notebook. While viewing the notebook you want to copy out of, right click any page or folder and select “Copy To Another Notebook.”

The “Copy To Another Notebook” window will appear. Select the notebook you wish to transfer the selected entry to. You can select a specific folder or create a new folder or page. Notice the “Copy To” section will change to reflect your selection.

NOTE: Your institution or the Notebook Owner may prevent you from copying data into another notebook. For more information about copy restrictions please see below.

The copying process may take several minutes to complete. When the copying process has completed, you will be returned to the original notebook.

Copy Entry

If you do not need to copy a whole folder or page, you have the ability to copy a single entry on a page. To do this, hover over the entry you want to copy. You should see menu options for this entry. Click the triple dot menu then select ‘Copy’.

After you click ‘Copy’, a ‘How to paste your entry’ window will pop up. This window provides instructions on how to add your copied entry to any selected page. Select ‘OK’.

Note: You can click the ‘Don’t show me this message again’ check box if you do not want to see these instructions anymore.

There are two ways to add your copied entry to a selected page. Once you are on the page where you want to add your copied entry, you can click the ‘+New’ button at the top right of the page. Click ‘Copied Entry’ and your copied entry will be added to the page.

You can also add your copied entry using our insert flag. Hover between two entries (where you would like to place the copied entry), you should see the insert flag. Click between the two entries and then click ‘More’, then click ‘Copied Entry’. Your copied entry will then be added to the page.

Copy Restrictions

If you are copying more than 100 entries, you may see a warning message like the one below.
