New Features Offer Greater Flexibility for Management and Customization

Our most recent updates to our Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) for Research and Inventory products provide greater flexibility for offline use, customization, and access management.

We are continually looking for ways to improve our products to support how you do research. Our most recent updates to our Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) for Research and Inventory products provide greater flexibility for offline use, customization, and access management. These updates have already been rolled out and are available in your ELN and Inventory applications. You can read more about these new features below:

ELN for Research

Offline Folder

The ability to create an Offline Notebook expanded with the option to create an Offline Folder. The Offline Notebook option provides an HTML version of the notebook that is easily traversed and includes a zip of all the attachments in the notebook. This new feature allows for selecting a folder (from a top-level folder to any subfolder) for offline creation. It is a great tool when you only need offline access to a subset of the notebook contents. Access to creating an Offline Folder follows the same permissions users have when accessing the online version of a notebook.

Duplicate Folder and Page

Additional options have been added to provide more flexibility when copying folders and pages. The Duplicate Folder option enables copying a folder and its contents within the same notebook, while the Duplicate Page option allows for copying a page in a single click. Both options support the reuse of experiment pages as templates.

Account Administrator

The new Account Administrator role will help alleviate the management burden on notebook owners. Owners can assign the Account Administrator via the "Account Manager" tool, which is available by clicking on their name. Account Administrators immediately have access to all the owner's notebooks and can manage the owner's Account Manager to add and remove users on their behalf. Notebook Administrators can be assigned to individual notebooks in addition to having an Account Administrator to support notebook access management.

Inventory

Customize Display of Standard Fields

Lab Managers now have the ability to customize the display of standard fields on the Inventory page for each inventory type. Columns can be easily added, deleted, or rearranged by dragging and dropping in the desired location. With the new features, you can hide fields that are not pertinent so that users only see relevant fields for an inventory type, and you can designate required fields to ensure that the most important information is captured whenever an item is added or updated. The bulk import and bulk update templates will automatically reflect all display and field changes.
