We are growing fast at LabArchives and we’re very excited to announce the addition of two new people to our global team. While our main offices are located in Carlsbad, CA and the D.C. metropolitan area, LabArchives team members can be found scattered throughout the states and abroad. Spread across at least nine time zones, we don’t get to work together in person everyday but we keep things moving with video calls, emails and virtual water cooler chat like our NCAA March Madness bracket pool (the east coast LabArchives team performed very well last year). Ryan Russell

Where are you from? Last month, I moved from Portland, Oregon to San Marcos, California.

What LabArchives office are you based out of or do you work remotely? I’m based in the Carlsbad, California office.

What were you up to before joining the LabArchives team? Previously I was a Software Trainer & Implementation Specialist for an ERP company.

How’d you find LabArchives? I found a LabArchives job posting on Indeed.


What’s your role at LabArchives? Customer Care Representative/Support.

What are you excited about in this new role? I look forward to working with LabArchives users to make the most out of their research with our tools!


Last trip you took for fun? About a year ago, I flew solo to Beijing because I made a bet with a college roommate!


Any pets? My seven-year-old dog, Ruby, holds a special place in my heart. A rescue, she’s a cocker-spaniel/poodle mix. 


Where are you working from today? My home office in San Marcos, California.

Jay Babla

Where are you from? I grew up in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. I’ve been in the U.S. for the past 25 years.

Where do you live now? San Diego.

What LA office are you based out of or do you work remotely? I work in the Carlsbad office and remotely.


First job? First paid job was at the university library at NAU in Flagstaff.


What were you up to before joining the LabArchives team? I was working as an IT Analyst at a fin-tech company in Encinitas, CA.


How’d you find LabArchives?
I worked with the Refworks team in the past and know a lot of the existing people on the team from that.

What’s your role at LabArchives? I am a Cloud Administrator.


What are you excited about in this new role? I’m excited to work with the Cloud technology hosting the LA software as well as working again with the team I’ve spent significant time with in the past (about 7+ years).


Last trip you took for fun? I went to visit family in London!


Where are you working from today? LabArchives Carlsbad office.
